Quote:
Virtually Limitless
Once you launch the P606 software on your Windows 2000 or XP computer, the connection between the SP-606 and P606 software is automatically made. There are no user settings that need to be hassled with. Audio and MIDI commands flow from the computer and back in real time.
A P606 project consists of 16 sequences. Each sequence has 16 Parts, or tracks. With each Part you can choose one from over 200 preset patterns provided, or create your own pattern from scratch. Assign a Patch or Rhythm Kit from one of the three built-in software synthesizers to be played by the pattern, or use the GroovePlayer to import a standard or Acidized Wav file, which will automatically sync to the tempo of the sequence.
The P606 software comes with several preloaded effects and is compatible with both DX and VST effects. Each Part can have a unique array of effects assigned to its “FX bin” — limited only by your computer’s processing power. You can completely change the order of effects to create different sounds.

Yeah Roland recently released the mac version and windows vista of the P606. And an upgrade as well for a couple of bugs. Google them or go to rolandus.com to download them.

@ Øyenstikker , dude did you even read my post or are you mad at me for something i did, your scathing response of my beat in the battle was less than helpful. Im not hating, but you seem to have something against me. Your cut and paste response from roland at me is not helpful, that was the antithesis of what i was looking for. Behave yourself and if you don't have anything nice to say, then say nothing at all!

Calm down man, just confirming what you already knew, there is no mac version of the sp-606, and there will probably never be, the product is discontinued.

Regarding the response in the battle, I gave an honest response to all contestants.

I apolgize if you find me rude, I do not intend to be.

What's your current weapon of choice then DJ_Just_Jeff??

I can definitely wholeheartedly recommend the SP-606. One of, if not the best sampler from the SP series in my opinion.

I use a sp 404/303 combo and also a lot of electribes. I am thinking about a mv-8800. You use a mv dont you PHeMoX? I had a mpc 1000 for a while, i think it is a killer sequencer but kinda over rated. I am fearful of the 606 low polyphony. I do have the cash for a mv so money is not an issue. Thankx

The polyphony won't really be an issue, unless you're really easily going crazy with many stereo sounds. Then the SP-606 won't be for you, you'll run into it's limits (too) soon.

But in my case the thing that bothered me the most about the SP-606 (or any SP for that matter) has been that it usually has only a 4 tracks sequencer. It's enough to make beats or basic music, but I wanted to make more complex songs and go beyond that limit.

The MV8800 is sequencer heaven for real! Of course, it's much more expensive than the SP-606, but in my case it was totally worth it.

I'm very much a fan boy of the MV these days, so just be aware I can be considered biased, but I really wouldn't want a different machine to make my music. It's a true beast, easily unrivaled, despite certain things that could be improved upon by Roland still. It's not perfect, but for me it's pretty darn close. :)

Yeah, an MV is my next target. The MV9000 should be around the corner, now that the SP404SX is shipping next month.

But right now, I'm content with the 606 and now that I've married it with an ESX-1, I really don't need nothing else. I'm in that zone now.
