Hello to everyone(again!)!
I will unfortunately sell my sp606 (maybe I'll buy an sp404 and a kp3) and the guy who will take it asked me a simple question ,but i don't have time to check it...so to get to the point:
--how many samples (by using the same midi channel) from an external keyboard can you control on the sp606?

128, which is the number of different MIDI notes a keyboard can send. This limitation has nothing to do with the MIDI channel, by the way, and in any case a controller can only transmit notes through one channel (unless it has split mode).

And, hell, don't sell the 606 to buy a 404 :o The 606 really is worth giving a second chance, and they are getting pretty rare to find (at least here in Spain).

Yeah, man why sell the 606 for a 404? The new SP-404SX looks like a good deal, but you're going to miss your screen, 4-track sequencer and a bunch of the raw sampling capabilities your SP-606 has for sureeeee!! (Don't do it! ;) )

Yes, but a typical midi set-up should be able to send multiple notes over a single channel simultaneously as well. It's what GM2 is all about (the General Midi 2.0 standard).

I think the 606 was based on this standard as well, meaning you can send at least like 8 midi notes simultaneously through one channel. Not sure though, I usually do not use midi that often, nor did I ever use it with the 606.

You're probably right, I stuck on the 0.1 version of MIDI (sending notes through one channel on one machine, receiving those notes on the same channel on another machine  ).

Most post-1999 gear should be midi 2.0 ready.. but I wouldn't know if the 606 has this standard. So... don't trust me either.

Smells of GAS here
I'm also drooling at a very cheap SP-505 on eBay. I really hope someone buys it soon, or I will have to give shelter to the poor abandoned thing
