Whattup y'all. i have both logic pro 8 and reaper for my macbook and sp606. i primarily make my beats on my 606 but want to track out to software to do my mixing and add layers etc...

does anybody know what i need to do to sync up the 606 to the software so i can hit record on the software and it plays the 606. then i can repeat for the other tracks so they all line up at the same time. can i do this with just a usb connection?

any and all help is greatly appreciated!

marlo

word, i have the driver set up. thanks though.

what i'm asking is how to do this? does anybody have any experience running this type of process? basically recording the 4 tracks on 4 passes so they all match up perfectly in the software i'm using?

thanks y'all.

You're going to have to setup the 606 as a "remote" to your daw. Im pretty sure it's under the menu section. That way it can be triggered by the daw. I have mine setup that way with ableton live but I dont send the audio through usb, the latency killed me. So I just have the usb as midi only and have the audio running through my presonus firepod interface ( no latency, virtually).

with it setup like you have, is it possible to do what i want to do? which is again, to record the 4 separate tracks to 4 tracks on my daw in sync with each other?

thanks fam.

Sorry for late reply ( if you still need it). If I understand correctly you want to record the 4 tracks seperately. You can do this, just not all at the same time. You'll have to mute 3 tracks and record 1 at a time into an audio track in ableton, then just mute and repeat process for the 3 other tracks. It's not hard and should be in sync with each other.

While I don't usually multi-track anything from my 606 as I am lazy, this should hopefully get you started. O-yea, I can't figure out how to get the transport keys (play stop etc) to control logic from the 606. So if you figure this out, please, please tell me.

On 606 under midi (func+pad11):
Sync Source: USB
Sync mode: slave

Logic:
Settings- Synchronization - Midi: select destination 1 as roland sp606.

There are a couple of more settings I think I am forgetting, but experiment with it. I think those are both the main screens you need to play with.

Also, just curious are you using the 606 as a sound card for Logic? That is the main reason I keep my 606.

Also some shameless self promotion: Check out my short 4 twenty mix. It's only like eleven mins long. Happy Fow Twunty peoples. Stay up. dj ctr.

dj ctr- dope mix - that redman track is my shit.
thanks man. i'm still havin trouble with it tho. i have the midi synced up and it'll play the track on the 606 when i hit play in logic, but i'm getting no audio coming thru. I've tried running the stereo outs into my maudio fasttrack -which sux btw- and then usb connecting to my mac. couldn't figure it out. tried just connecting the stereo outs to a mini line in and hooked it straight into the comp and sitll no friggin sound. i have the sound preferences set on the mac right.
cannot figure out what step i'm missing. any tips/thoughts would be HUGELY APPRECIATED-

Have you checked the settings in the software you're using?
