Nah, I don't think the serial number will tell you the date because my number is complelely different but does begin with Z. Check underneath it. There's a UPC code and serial number. I think I have the 21st 606 because it has it like this (21) next to the serial.

hmm, no, underneath isn't a sticker too. i think it maybe fell off already, or it is hidden somewhere else. maybe inside(but i won't open it therefor)... Let's see what Roland is going to answer. don't you think they maybe have a logc behind their serial numbers? like technics had back in the day. (nr indicating year, letter indicating month...)

Hey Ill, where was the 2nd sticker? I got 2 606s (greedy) & neither have sticker on the underside. Did you mean to peel off the serial sticker?

That's pretty gnarly being able to count down the production sequence off the stickers. Now I wanna know how old mine are!

*EDIT* Ah, forgot that the SP606 was first released in '04. Chances are they didn't take 2 years to make 21 of them, sorry Ill. B- let us know if Roland can tell you how old your 606 is.

Yeah, because I bought it brand new in 2006, maybe meant the 21st production line. Its a 2x2 sticker under the 606. It has a UPC code on the first line with the letter T and a bunch of numbers and the serial number on the second line and as a UPC code too. I think its for the manufacture to scan when you send it in.

I just noticed the serial number sticker next to the AC port.

Wish I had an iPhone to scan the UPC code, maybe it'll say what factory it came from and if its the 10,000th SP made.

@Illgreen: Hahaha! Good point, that was a pretty big derp on my part. There's no reason why you couldn't buy the 21st unit 2 years after it was made (units don't sell in order of production).

@Bgreene: Ahhh... Too bad all that narrative confuses the formula. Did you figure it out?

Unfortunatly i did nor understand their formula. I think it's not in such an easy way as serial are on Technics to decifer. Here you can not find anything matching between serial nr and day/week/month/year...
Confusing...
