You can actually pan your mono samples. This along with the best effects out of all the SP's and professional 1/4 inch inputs & outputs makes the 606 the best SP.

For this reason the 606 essentially has two separate outputs. If you are multi-tracking and want to have the kick and snare on their own tracks, just hard pan kick to the left and snare to the right, run the sequence , then BOOM - separation.

Whether or not it's the best is in the ears and hands of the beholder..

You can do that on the other SP's though.. actually, hard panning is all you can do. I was thinking more for mixing in the box. You can pan the snare a little to the right, high hat a little to the left, etc.. add the master compressor, record through the digital out to your favorite DAW & you have a fully mastered track with the best punchy, boomy, gritty Roland SP sound we all love so much. The 606 is the best. Recording through usb too? Just rip whatever your laptop is playing.. through YouTube, a DVD, some softsynth, etc.. GAME OVER

..

hey this could be a sort of "mpc-outputs-like" tip...never tought about it...
...have you tried before like, let's say, effecting "virtual output1" with some fx and "virtual output2" nothing or "virtual output1" with fx1(external fx, sps,kp etc) and "virtual output2" with other fx etc?

Nope- once you apply any MFX (which are stereo) you will get bleed.

Also, someone above mentioned the "professional" 1/4" balanced I/O. Unfortunately the 1/4" analog jacks on the SP-606 are noisy as hell, and are borderline offensive for studio use (the output is slightly nosier than the ins).
The way around this is to use the SPDIF I/O.

LOL that the SP-606 manual 'warns' you about the noise as well.

These things are toys (but my favorite toy)

Hold on, he said 606 right! Not the amazing 303 or the 404. The plastic 606. Its a pretty cool machine, dont get me wrong. But the effects weren't that good, at all, and its cool to pan, but i wouldn't rate a machine so high just because i can make the noise go left. You sound like a man who hasn't touch a 303, 404, or 505. Maybe someday you will feel their powers.
But to each his own.
And i thought it was weird that the 606 was lighter than the 505, but its bigger. Like an air bag of potato chips.

Technology advances. Did you know the MV 8000 is heavier than the 8800? Yup. But the OP is saying that you have total control of panning unlike the 505 which is hard left or hard right. 606 got gems not in the manual, don't sleep on plastic, but then again all SPs are made of plastic
