I'm only using the sp 505's pads to trigger another machine and I'm also running my samples through the 505 into this other sampler.

The problem is that only the Preset Bank 1 seems to be able to send MIDI messages. And with this, the Preset sounds always play everytime I try to trigger a sound on the other machine.

Turning down the volume is not an option because i end up having to do that too much at times.

any suggestions?

Go to ->system->utility->MIDI->and check the parameter:"Pads Ch"(normally set it to 1) do the same for "Part 1 Ch" and so on...
keep in mind that banks have the range of
C1 to D#2(pad 1 to 16) so you must set the other machine(by the way which one is it?) ,if possible, to be triggered by these notes...

Also the chop banks(13,14) don't transmit anything and pitch banks are C3 to C4(2 octaves higher than the other banks) and each pad is the note written next to the number (pad1 has no note, pad 2 is C#...)

Another thing is that a pad must contain some data to transmit something so just sample in lofi mono some silence! copy it to an empty padbank and you are ready!for piano style trigering i would recommend pitchshifting that sample(or just copy it to the pitchbank-15,16)...
