hi
i finally received my new sp-505.
i didn't find until now the "pattern lenght" parameter...
is it the "measure" parmeter when you hit rec? 8 measures is not too much (sp-606 got 32), i thought sp-505 got 99 like sp-303/404.... :?

yeah but you got 4 parts each pattern. that should count for something. and honestly, i never use more than eight on my 404. do you?

hi
i used to compose all the songs on my sp-303 patterns (sometimes 40 or 50 measures!), that's why i said that  , maybe i have to relook my sp-303 way to see things... :)
...and yes, 4 parts are ok to do something, you're right...
anyway that's the only weak point i found on this beast. i like this machine.
cheers

wow, i don't have patience for that. 40 measures would kill me on the edit side. i couldn't do that. the dr-202 only has eight measures as well.

yes, i undestand you, the sp-404 don't need this 'cause it can switch patterns in line...
recently i found an interesting post 'bout a trick to switch patterns in line in the sp-303 and from then i reduced from 4o measures to 20: a good progress, no?

I hope you know that you can chain patterns in song mode which gives you a lot patterns to chain so basically you create intro , outro , verse, chorus, break etc. etc. and then chain them in the song mode (you can repeat them in the song mode also) - hit play and listen to the beat. and I hope you also know that you can switch patterns while playing them just like on 404 and 606. just go to the pattern field and scroll the well and then pattern you selected will start playing after the current one. just my two cents, boy.

hi olby
thanx but i know for sp-404 and sp-606, don't worry.
until now i never operate in song mode.
this sp-505 is a real beast.
pitch scale function (in "music" mode)is killer; clip board too; the way to acces to banks pretty fast'n'easy; delete samples too; editing samples super useful: you can really take control over the chop and if not you can do it manually, but if chop is not accepted for some reason by sp-505 you can do it the same, that's dope! really near akai mpc mode.
i don't know sp-555 and sp-808 (this one i wish to try, but i've too many samplers! :) ), but i think that simply 505sp505sp505sp is the best sp in his category.

peace!!
