Hello all

From a website I dragged and dropped five aiff samples onto the card then loaded them into a pad back.

When I played them back only two played as expected, the other three were speeded up.

Any ideas why they didn't all play back at normal speed?

Plasma'a bit flustrated

i recommend you check how they're playing back...ie: whether they are set to "phrase" or "single" in the 'wave edit' screen.

it sounds like you've got them as phrase, and at (like) one-bar, rather than two bars or whatever.

start w/ changing them to singles.

you're files that are playing too fast are not the correct sample rate. the 505 assumes everything is 44.1 so anything thats not will have tuning issues. use an audio converter to make sure everything is the correct sample rate before loading

that ^^ actually makes more sense. the single / phrase thing would actually slow the sample down. speed up is pro'lly sample rate.

Ok thanks, 44.1 needs checking.

Do you know of any of any free software, I've loaded wavepad but after a few days it wants me to pay for it!

Do a Google search for dBPoweramp Music Converter. As far as I know the only true free converter out there, that also works flawlessly. :)

Coolest thing is you can just right click and click Convert To when you've got it installed properly.

you want a program called "autotune" by a company called analog-x. it will batch convert everything into the correct bit-depth and sample rate. its totally free. you an also use it to batch convert mono to stereo and visa versa. super easy, and super fast. be aware that it over-writes the destination file, so make copies before you convert.

To Harmony One - fair play, I didn't go past the first To Pay screen, just thought that I'd get dragged into some sort of enter your credit card data thingy

To vxkid - nice one, another path to investigate

I've now sorted wavepad.

I went to uninstall the program from - Start - Control Panel - Add Remove Programs.

At this point I was given the option of using the free version, I clicked yes and bob's your aunty, it works.

you know what i just realized,

theoreticly, the sp 505 can tune samples like an mpc ( maybe with os upgrade) by simply changing the sample rate. my roland ms 1 could speed up slow down samples using sample rate conversion. so some super nerd should hack the os . replace the garbage pitch function with something better.

i dont need nothing fast like 16 levels,

maybe i dream to much.
