is there anything i need to know beyond just getting a 128 smart media card?

there a little pricey, so what i7ve been thinkin is using my 505 as a chop dedicated machine and also for sequencing my 808 when i want to make loops. this way i don't need to buy more than one. oh yeah make sure the card is placed in the slot correctly. when i got mine the card wouldn't read and i was screamin' wtf but then i checked the manual it said it was supposed to go the other way.

no prob homie, i noticed most of the sm cards i find are either generic or from fuji, n sandisk. doesn't seem like as much variety as the other sp's but its all good. i haven't heard of issues with any of those if that matters.

Yeah, the cards that go with the 303 and 505 seem to be more standardized or something.

I got a type M+ 1gb Olympus XD-picture card and a smartcard converter adapter on order. Should I have any problems with that with my sp 505?

Most converter adapters seem to be 5 volt, not 3.3v so it might not work or even damage (?) your machine.

well isn't that just grand? sounds like I may have wasted more money on a converter. The memory card thing is starting to get annoying.

aight, i got my converter, but how do you know if it is 3v or a 5v? IT does't say on the converter. Is there something about the gold contacts to help me figure it out?
This is the one I ordered.

i had the same converter and it works.

JUST put THE CONVERTER WITH GOLDEN CONTACTS FACING DOWNWARDS this is the most common thing everyone messes up on 505. i had the prob my self once way back.

tried that homie.
1. I turn the 505 off
2. slide in card with gold contacts facing down the turn on
3. push system button
4. utility and del/cpy, but no card icon. :(
