I'm stoked. ebay money has changed hands, so hopefully I will have it in my studio sometime next week... maybe even in time for the next battle.

Yes dude... I'm feelin that.

Can't wait to get my hands on it. Waiting for ebay loot to arrive is like waiting for Christmas day when you're a little kid.

some unique things about the 505 to my knowledge are as follows.
the waveform display is cool, only thing about it is cant change start points while the sequencer is playing. but this shouldnt be a problem because you can see it , its not hard to get the chops on time.
the time stretch is alright i notice some samples dont glitch out as rank.
the swing is cool, but never really got into it when i had mine. the pads dont click like a 404 pad.
the amount of banks is crazy for storing shit.
the filter isnt very noisy . its not a super filter. or nice like a 303 filter
but its the next best thing, i think if they made an OS upgrade it can do lots and lots more stuff, for example. resample the sequencer. make a pitch A , B mode. it would slow down and speed up samples , but you would still have to resample them. im not shure if the 505 is actually capable of these things. maybe a grid pattern sequencer . im convinced an 0S upgrade can add the roll feature to 404 or 505. i just dont know what to type anymore.

ha ha... word. seems like such a different approach than on the 303/404/555's, as far as features and work flow. I can't wait to get down on it.

Here are a couple questions I've thought of...

when you take a sample and put it into re-pitch mode (whatever that's officially called) can you then resample the individual hits you want to use as unique samples, so they are no longer being re-pitched?

And can you repitch several samples in your track... or does it only apply it to one at a time?

and can you also do normal pitch adjusting without spreading the sample across all pads?

Thanks in advance for any answers...

yo, the pitch shifting is exactly like the 303 and 404. and you dont have to always to the full scale pitch on all keys, you can go key for key , but you have to resample each note seperatly. dont let my sig pic fool you, mpcs can be very handy for real pitch shifting.

what does that mean ^^ that pitch shifting is like the 303/404?

cuz the 404 doesn't really pitch shift at all....i mean, there's the fx...but it's wonky city...

or - are you just saying you gotta re-sample?

i'm just trying to get a sense o' what yr saying, cuz (again) i'm also finking of picking one up.

1st there are two pitch banks that will lay a scale down. say you have a piano hit in f, you select that sample, select a few pitch parameters(like it's in f, and what kind of instrument, for this it's like three options i think) and then it scales the piano strike(just one scale). now if you want to repitch then you will have to move the sounds out of the pitch bank. the pitch function is ok but it's a little fuzzy imho. i doubt i'll use it all that much but it does work.

maybe what dopecutsw was saying is that it sounds about the same as when you pitch on the 404, which is kinda true but i think the 505 pitch sounds a little better and it's way more functional.
