the stereo inputs on my 505 have been cutting out... seems like a messed up connection. They seem loose, the sort of wiggle a little when I put slight pressure on them. What should I do?? Should I risk opening the b*astard and try tightening them? This is probably due to me, changing cables all the time. Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like the solder on the connection is cracked. If your ok with soldering it's an easy fix. If not the uh, well uh...

Yeah, it sounds like you separated the inputs from the circuit board from either changing cables too often or maybe a little rough on occasion(drunk beat making  ). Like Hematurge says, you have to open your machine and to confirm this is the problem and then determine if you feel confident soldering the connection back onto the board. Soldering things onto circuit boards really isn't too tough in my mind, but I'd ultimately say you should do this at your own risk since it's not my machine and I wouldn't be handling the soldering. I have a friend that builds computers and runs a tech shop in the U-district that could most likely do it for you at a reasonable price if you let him know your my folks.

Your best bet right there.

If you decide to do it yourself look on youtube for some soldering tutorial vids. Then try it out on something you don't mind ruining first.

I almost want to try just to learn how to do it. I have soldered once... but it was a very long time ago in a tech class in highschool. If I remember correctly it was easy...

I may however just take you up on that offer Euclid. I'll open up the box after I get home from work today. Thanks for the advice.

quick update on my problem:

I opened up my 505 just now to take a look, and it doesn't look like the connection is cracked... I mean, it's pretty hard to see where they connect to the board at all, but everything looked normal.

Maybe the inputs themselves are bad, or gunked up. Not sure, so I'm at a loss . I don't know what to do.
