im goin nuts over this. i cant seem to get my mpd24 to read the pads that i want from the 505. i bought an ac adapter for the mpd cause my laptop broke but its still no good.

the mpd only recognizes the first preset on the 505 but any other pad banks wont work.

anyone had success with connecting these two?

Hi canfind, yes it does work.

You need to change the program change on the MPD to access the other pad banks on the 505. Press the program change button & use the know to change to different program numbers.

As you go to each new program number on the MPD, hit the pads and you will hear the sounds that live in each pad bank of the 505.

Let me know how you go. cheers.

sup man.. yeah i tried that but it still plays the first preset. whenever i change the program change setting nothing really changes. still plays the same sound..

how did you set up your mpd? are you using it without a computer and powering it up using an adapter and just using midi cables?

ok, maybe that is the issue..

I was running my mpd into the computer via USB and then out to the 505 via midi out of my soundcard interface.

I just sold my mpd24 so I can't test it out anymore.

That being said, I now have a MPC2000 which I use to trigger samples on the 505 via midi (no computer involved). By changing the program setting on the MPC I am able to play the samples on any of the 505's pad banks...

cheers.

to my knowledge the MPD 16 wont work with the 505 because as far as I know the MPD doesnt do program changes. If im wrong, then make sure your triggering the right midi note. Keep cycling thu notes until u find the right one.

hmm so the mpd16 is pretty much useless with the 505 but what about the mpd24?

does anyone here use their mpd24 without a computer involved?
