The other day i was trying to work better midi on the sp505.
Reading the manual very carefully this time (i got my 505 since 2009) i found a feature very cool for me. In fact every track (part) is able to drive a midi channels; for example you can put part1 on midi ch off or 1...16 , and same thing for parts 2,3 and 4...many combinations are so possible: you can put some channels on off and just 2 of them on different (or same) channels, and so on. This is cool for trigger various synths and/or samplers/drum machines etc...the only "headache thing" :) i noticed is that for the istance this procedure is cool for driving synths because i didn't fixed well the triggering of samples to other machines (i've done that with the sp606, so i suppese that i will succeded witht the 505 too, they're almost the same on midi field) so i play sequenced pitches tones of them by the 505...
....i said that the 606 and the 505 are almost the same on midi field because i think the 606 has not the thing i saw yesterday on the 505; another thing curious to notice was the Program Change; i was trigger the mc909 with the 505 and i notice that with pc to "on" i could change patches on that machine and record that changement on the 505 sequencer...

HEy dude, I have a question for you. Well, seeing that you are from France, je pourrais te le demander en francais... but, let's be global. I m getting a deal for a 505, 150$. But my question is. Since there's a midi out on the 505, would it be a good combination with a 404sx. I'd like to use the sequencer in the 505. Does it have MMC? Also, can you delete the ROM samples?

midi on both 505/606 is badly studied by roland, i mean midi notes, but at least on the 505 we got this feature/trick i said on the first post, and for the MMC thing, if you mean stop/play then it's ok, the 505 can transmits this, don't know if it transmits also fwd/bwd/clock...anyway it receives those midi commands, who knows...
...unfortunately you cannot delete ROM samples, so tracks 1 to 4 are always occupied by those...
