So I picked up a card reader, and selected a few wav files to ul to the card. It's ready to go, but when I get the card to the 505, does it know what the samples are named? Or will I need to re-name them to something more simple, like instead of "909Bassdrum1", just keep it nice and simple to "909bd1"?. Is there a limit to how long the name of the sample can be? If the samples are in stereo (which I assume they are), I think you can convert them to mono if needed, but how?

Thanx.

I'm probably picking up my 505 this friday, so if I've got the cash, it's a go.

The 505 does not display the names of the samples. You can only change the name of the patterns.

Don't put any wav files onto the 505 until you are able to put the SM card into the machine and have it format/create the proper files. The 505 formats differently than your PC would.

The wav files you are trying to import don't have to be named in any particular format.

No problem. I'll back them up, and format the card when I pick up the 505. So I'm better off having each file numericly? 1-40?

Hit up page 69 and 70 of the manual. It's pretty straight forward. No need to rename your wav files.

I will be honest, just sample them into the machine it will be quicker and easier. Set your incoming threshold to 1 and go to town. The only SP I would mess around with importing/transferring wav files is the 404sx since it handles/records wavs natively.
