thanks man, i've learned a ton doing beats here, took the 555 from a glorified drum box in my eyes to something a whole track can be done on.

Oh I guess i'm slow....so how are you doing the compression and vinyl? Do you compress the whole track, export out to PC, reimport to a pad then add the vinyl? I've heard you can't resample whole patterns on a 505?

Def. might be interested in a collaboration, planning on getting my 505 stuffed with good samples, takes awhile with that smartmedia card hehe.

Ok so I got this track called "dope fiend" right? Its a simple loop of Fleetwood mac's "prove your love". I started with the loop and sampled it in lo-fi. Then I put the drums at the intro on top. Added tape echo to my drums.Resampled. Then a touch of reverb. Resampled. Then I played the beat with the compressor on and recorded it to tape. Then I I played the beat back and sampled it to a pad in the 505 with a little chorus. Then I played the sampled beat but with the viny sim on and sampled that into the mpc. Then I just save into the mpc, more memory, then send thru USB to pc and sync on iPhone!

I don't touch the computer when it comes to beat making at all.

I learned to play the 505 by just sampling loops and playing my drums over it.

Then I moved to chopping samples by just sampling the parts I wanted onto pads and adjusting start and end points.

very cool to read yr process. more / different steps than me, but it sounds like a cool way to finesse the tones yr looking for. cool!

Chicago - That is cool, so you are doing some clever bouncing to get that effect. Nice - I definitely want to try something similar , bouncing the first resampled beat to one of my other samplers then back to get the next "layer" of effects.

as ill green and other said, the clipboard could be used in a very cool creative way for chopping without stress. indeed, on the 505 even autochop is the best 'cause you can always adjust/add the marker points.

another way to add swing is to use the swing parameters track by track; that's another good characteristic of the 505 (606 too): you can add swing to one specified track, not forcely all the tracks. so, basically every track is independent from the other, you can swing or not track by track.

other tip: resample is ok also by different banks; this is not possible on the 606.
bpm sync is (sometimes) cool for stretching sounds and find (accidentally) new weird combinations.

I'm a first start by learning my war aroung that machine. At first glance it looks like I could actually make the core beats/rythym in the 505 (sound/cause of 16 pads/key pitch/better sampler editing.. and more I guess) Then sample in the 404sx for the construction/effects/playing.

I'll see.

I've never be a sequencer fan myself but who know where the 505 will lead me!
