None of the WU have cosigned on the new album because of Rza steamrolling the creative control and he's on some fake ass Jimi Hendrix guitar shit. If the album is released as is the rest of the WU are releasing an album entitled WU vs. Shaolin. If you ask me Lord Beatjitzu should get his beats to them A.S.A.P 'cause that's the sound they want. I really think Lord Beatjitzu could do the whole album better than Rza at this point in terms of the Shaolin sound we all fell in love with on 36 Chambers. If anybody has any way of getting his tape to them then we gotta help a brotha shine. Peace

I agree, but..WU wouldn't be WU without RZA. There would have to be a new titlte for the group.

Yeah but Gza is just as influential to the group and Rza's older cuzo so I'd say Rza needs to keep his next level shit on his solo and soundtrack work. The reemergence of WU as a group should give the fans what they want, which is Lord Beatjitzu on the production.

Damn, I just read about it on mp3.com : http://www.mp3.com/news/stories/10432.html.

I hope they figure it out and do something in between. I haven't actually heard Rza's new style stuff, but it would be a shame .. Wu without Rza would be off!

The sound is good but not what I want from the new wu album. To be honest I have liked Rza's album music since Bobby Digital, his soundtrack stuff is nice though. Here's the link peep it, he remade While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

just watched a couple of the afro samurai things tonight, actually. his score for this is (to me) half-great. sometimes its got a solid Wu-type feel, and at other times it just seems to miss the mark while drawing attention away from the story (which coulda been the point, i guess).

anyone else seen it / heard it?

Dr sample said -

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

why have you done this ?

invite a wholesale comparison in this way ?

- it's not fair to either.

I admire greatly the music of these two but they are chalk and cheese. I don't understand how you could not notice an enormous musical difference between 36 chambers and beatjitsu's tapes.

the 2 very diff working methods are immediately apparent if you listen to any of their tracks. beatjitsu's thick 'saturated' sound over rza's strings, keys and guitars - and I'm talking about 36 chambers.

i's not just voiceover samples that made rza what he is today - and i am not saying that's just what made beatjitsu what he is either.

i'm very suss about this thread.

whats yr connection?

i think this is stupid, i mean i love 36 chambers but that album already came out. the next wu album should be rzas next level shit just like when 36 came out in the fucking 90s it was new. remaking the same album over and over is for ac/dc. giving the fans what they want for the sake of them wanting it is like selling out. (except for ac/dc)

@dman5000: Never thought of it like that, yea .. good point.

Still, if they are sort of changing their 'signature' sounds beyond recognition... would it still be WU?

I actually enjoyed this track, but I have a tendency to just listen to stuff simply for what it is.....reminds of a when one of my boys started to get bent out of shape when Jay Dee's sound went from the more melodic, soulful stuff to a sound that was a bit more aggresive....it was simply all Dilla to me & I'll RZA's work in the same fashion.

I can stomach change in sound, as long as the work is solid......
