I was on FP earlier and read a post in which someone recommended that Roland should make a scaled down series of the MV-8800/8000. I think that would would be pretty rawsome, it's about time Roland took Akai head on, I think there should be one for $500, one for $1000, and one for $1500, with varying levels of features, all should have velocity sensitive pads and a real pitch shift, maybe a like 8 tracks to sequence on the cheapest and more as you go up.

''8 tracks would be real dope!'', & sample tuning... wish that the 606 had this str8 out of the box itself minus the p606... die hard mpc catz would be offended by this... but the 606 is still dope as it is... maybe an MV-800, i dunno...

Now if Roland would just get hip to the game and start reading all these posts, they might have a good look into what their customers would like to see in their machines, which would translate into better sales. I can't believe Roland has come with so many innovations for samplers and Akai still has a bigger rep in the beat making game with a 20 year old design that the original developer(Roger Linn) hasn't indorsed for years, he even works with m-audio and probably designed the trigger finger to work with DAWs as superior style mpc of the future, Akai's got nothing on Roland.

roland should stick to doing what akai isnt doing- which is making those gigantic overkill machines for the gavones and the SPs for the real beatmakers 8) - and akai should get back to making professional MPCs

True akai should step it up and try to live up to the name, but you gotta admit it would be nice to have a scaled down MV with an interface more like an sp sampler.

$500 isnt really giving them alot to work with.

The sp-404 is only a little less than that, so for the extra few bucks, i think you're expecting too many upgrades.

I'd like to see something like the SP-555 but with a few recording tracks and a 2nd FX processor and a dedicated mastering section. AND FRIGGIN PITCH CONTROL FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND PURE !!!!. A pitch bank like the 505 had would be nice :)

Well I did say scaled down, but also I'm not expecting too much the chips they use to build these things are super cheap , the mark up is ridiculous and you're mostly paying for their advertisements, celeb indorsments(Rza), and R&D but they've would have already done all this for the MV-8800/8000. Just wishful thinking, I guess I'd be happy if they were going to make the 555 with the MV pads and a real pitch shift, until I see something more like that I'll stay with my 303.
