:)

Cartesia here,

new email/username/artist name/etc.

consolidating all my many identities into one, in an attempt to focus all my energies on a single project that just may make it to fruition.

The idea behind space age is to take a blend of futuristic synthetic sounds, with quite an easy-to-get into, almost pop-sensible beat. Think 60s rock (beatles etc) if they had synthesisers and drum machines. And if they had eaten just a bit more acid.

Driven basically by the idea that this future we are living in, is not the future people imagined back in the 50s/60s, and we're being duped of a better life. . so why the hell isn't everyone up in arms complaining!

Also, the idea that people need to be liberated and begin appreciating individualism and free expression, rather than ridiculing the individual.

I want to wear a glow in the dark robot costume to work.

I want to go home at lunch time when technology increases my company's productivity by 50%.

The drive for productivity, at the cost of human enjoyment of life.. is not acceptable!

I don't want a mortgage and a 50 hour week...

I WANT PROGRESS TOWARDS HAPPINESS!

..and a flying car would be cool too.

I'm not quite sure how it will all turn out yet. I might try and start a band. Or I might stay in my room and write it all on my own, and use my minions of unmanned social disruption vehicles that I plan on building to spread the message to the world. Thinking RC Cars with wifi jammers and spray cans attached to them or some such.

nice!

i like the theme, very pertinent to modern life

are you thinking shortish track times to match the 'pop' sensibilities of the beats?

I'm struggling to draw a line somewhere on this issue.

At the moment I'm thinking something like, imageine if you took a pop track, and in the middle, tore a rift in the space-time continuum and inserted psychoacoustic madness.. . so all appears normal. . then breaks down into chaos. . then returns to normal again.

So I guess the middles could be quite drawn out. . and it will become kind of a 'possessed' version of a pop song. :)

Good to see there's some people who agree with my issues as well.

Danger! Danger!

yes! i feel that man
like an instant come-up on acid during a Beatles track; from guitars to sitars to a detuned saw-wave with LFOs bubbling away

you keeping the same set-up for this project?

Yeah thats exactly it! Its like when you're trippin . . and "whuuump" all of a sudden youre in twisted parallel space realm where time stands still. . then with a whooshing rush .. . *snap* inserted back into reality.

I think the hardest part will be creating a smooth transition between the two that doesnt go too slowly.

As for the setup .. I have not figured out yet exactly how I'm gonna do it all.
Probably going to be mostly software based..

which in some ways I find unfortunate, but I want to start doing some generative stuff by using midi-controlled arpeggiator-ish devices created in max/msp... so that basically I have control over the melodies and progressions. . but not in the traditional 'press a note, produce a sound' direct relation. More on the line of generative/algorithmic type stuff... but not locked to fixed equations/algorithms.

I suspect it will come out sounding quite mathematical and robotic. . Maybe a nice analogue mixer + outboard effects to bring a bit of life into things... But then money is tough these days too . . I am still without a car

What I do know is that I want to be able to 'build' the middle psychedelic sections on the fly - kind of like how dub performers play their mixers/delays/reverb. Actually probably will end up quite influenced by dub in the mid-sections.

definitely man, the dub style of live tweaking has really inspired me too

i especially like the fact that it's mandatory to have a monster spliff hanging off your lip as you send snips of audio off into thunderous reverb and echo chains

A lot of people who have 50 hour work weeks and a morgage are miserable, and I personally think that lifestyle sucks monkey balls. And even though at the current time I have a "square" job, I'm constantly getting closer to liberation.

On another note your musical aspirations sound dope! Keep the inspiration high, and as one of the other bro's above said, keep us posted. Should be good stuff, good luck, Peace, Duss 8)
