DXM is in no way an easy way to get into psychedelics. At heroic doses it's the strongest shit ever. Start with shrooms, then acid if you can find it. DXM at high doses is only for the brave and the foolish. Bizarre beyond belief that they put that shit in cough syrup.

well my friend knew how to take it back out of syrup which led a time when i didn't really know how much i was taking, but it was alot and it was bad.

DXM breaks down into a narcotic pain killer around 5x's stronger than morphine which sedates the body and causes out of body experiences.

Dextrorphan (the active metabolite of DXM) has no analgesic effect.

You used to be able to buy the powder online. Talk about not knowing how much you're taking. At least there's only so much cough syrup you can choke down.

When Dextromethorphan enters the body it becomes dextrorphan which is a cough suppressant and also levorphanol which is the analgesic. Metabolism causes the chemical breakdown of DXM into these two compounds, oh and DXM is a NMDA antagonist like PCP or Ketamine which causes the dissociative effect.

Levorphanol is not a metabolite of DXM,

levorphanol's laevo isomer (levorphan) is the one that is 5x more powerful than morphine,

dxm *is* the dextrorotary isomer of levorphanol.

They are related, but different. one does not come from the other, they have a common parent (methorphan).

Deeper understanding of some of the differences you're dealing with..

As a comparison, two molecules which are nearly identical and relevant to this discussion are levorphan and dextrorphan.

Levorphan and dextrorphan are enantiomers of each other, meaning that while they are 'mirror' images of each other. . they are not the same thing, and cannot both be produced by a simple reaction from the same precursor.

Its kind of like. . the difference between your right hand and your left hand. .. you would have to rebuild the whole thing in order for one be truly like the other - changing one of the fingers doesnt change the fact that it is still either a left hand or a right hand.

DXM in medication is deliberately enantiopure (contains only one of the enantiomers) for the specific reason that, they do not want people taking DXM to be taking levorphan/levorphanol too. It is both unneccessary in their treatment and unneccessarily dangerous!
