Here are some interesting pages from the interwebs on the subject of lofi music...

this is the first thing you see at that link

Yeah dude... not sure why you are calling special attention to that line of copy, but in general, I think I was agreeing with what you said about the "real" lofi genre. Two of the three links support what you said about the origination of the genre.

What you are describing with youtube, and the younger generation's habits of consuming music pretty much affects all genres across the board. SoundCloud is hurting... and losing to youtube, if you look at them as offering similar things... but that's nothing new. Personally, I hate listening to music on youtube. I much prefer SoundCloud... but the model for music distribution and consumption is so fluid right now. Spotify is becoming more available as a tool for independent artists I think. I don't see SoundCloud as being relevant too much longer, outside of the truly independent artists using it to post and share their stuff... but not for "making it big" or garnering attention from labels. I don't think any pure consumers of music look to SoundCloud for anything... it's pretty much an artist community at this point.

Yeah, it's a changing model. Who knows how it will continue to evolve. Spotify seems to be holding it down at the moment, right? I like youtube for actual videos... posting a song on youtube with a visual loop or static image has always seemed pretty weak to me. Without the paid version of youtube you can only play a vid/song if its the active window on your phone. Anyone here able to speak to the paid youtube option?

i don't get it either, because soundcloud is dope, and when i was a kid, everyone had it on their phone. not just artists

i don't want to use spotify because you have no freedom to change your name or edit your tracks

don't you have to pay for it??

it's too constricting

Whats up Wiz,
This place went full retard a while back, I left until recently logging in. I don't blame the other OGs for leaving, though they will pop up from time to time. Maybe if we post frequently they'll take notice to return but this a sinking ship, no maintenance since keesj left and motherfuckers were posting the password all over the net. Top of that, spambots are leaking in. We need this place updated and upgraded.

Sorry guys, Keesj & myself have just been working on our regular jobs since this forum has never provided us with any form of income stream. It's definitely a shame to see that the community has suffered from this.

We are really proud of you guys playing a big role in the emergence of lofi-hiphop in this modern world where trap has become synonomous with 'hiphop'. Hats off to the community!

If you guys have any ideas and/or are willing to help, shoot me a message and I will see what I can do to revive this place. However my brother Keesj is the tech-guy and he programmed the whole website and has a very handsoff approach currently due to his other websites which generate his income.

If you guys really want to revive the forums please feel empowered to come up with a strategy and I will listen. If you come up with something really good I will also inform Keesj.

Let's go!
