If the speculation is true and they do actually have a new "dj" turntable to announce. Well that only gives me 3 days to sell my last original black 1200 for an outrageous price, before the used market plummets.

If new tables come out with the original quality at a realistic price that would be pretty cool as it looks like their last attempt failed pretty hard.

Looks like at a price of over $2,000 for a pair, Technics failed again. I'm sure the microcomputer is worth it.

I'll stick with my TTx's and if anyone needs a Black SL-1200 mkII in the original box with a never touched lid, manual and mat, let me know as I have one for sale for $800. Fuck Technics, if that is what they think a release for a DJ turntable is.

The old Techs will not lose value. In fact, they will probably go up in resale tags.
You know the newer ones aren't going to compare to the ones from the 90s.

It's like when Roland came out with new 808, 606 and what have you.
I mean, it's cool and all. But they don't compare with the originals.
And the OGs fetch double if not triple the money.

I understand Technics reasoning.
Pretty much after the 90s / early 2000s, they didn't manufacture any products that sparked any buzz.
So they gotta come up with something to pay shareholders with.

I totally agree with that, the mkii was was basic and built to last, and the standard that created turntablism, scratching, etc.

Granted Technic did make and sell numerous products, they will always be known for the SL-1200, but with Technics only being a subsidiary/brand of Panasonic I don't think the shareholders will ever be hurting.

I think the previous version of the 1200G (or whatever) and now this version, is just marketing strategy to please fanboys, and hipsters, it doesn't seem like they are doing it for the people that gave their tables the rep that they have today. Sure back in the day nothing could compete, today there are a slew of turntables on the market that hold their own for scratching dj'ing etc, (TTX for example). To me I would rather have double what I paid for it after using it for 20 years than to keep it for nostalgia as I don't think I would ever go back to it. But to each there own on that front.

In your opinion do you think they are trying to get paid off the hype of the brand or do you think this is a new solid table worth the price?
