Been on ig for a few months. (real late to the party!) its really cool though. Lots of cool people to connect with and loads of good beat making content, discovered a lot of dope beat makers and music already. Never really got on with twitter but instagram seems dope.

(Cuthbert quoted from the thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12572)

I'm an avid user of twitter to the point my account feels like a human operated bot. I like the whole news feed aspect of it. You can also upload 2min30s of video which is great for "donuts" like tapes . I didn't use that feature for now but I'm really thinking of it considering I want to escape the dictatorship of views from services like YouTube or even SoundCloud. I must admit they helped me know why I'm listening to someone else's tape : it incites me to create. I think the most frustrating part in getting to listen to other producers' work is that you realize how much you want to allow yourself more time to do the same and not the amount of views that triggered an algorithmic distribution routine. Algorithms made laziness painful for someone aspiring to create for the sake of it. Whenever you just had to listen to a track on the radio, inspire yourself from it, satisfy yourself in doing what you felt was kind of building on what made it distinctive to your ear, now you're blatantly given insights on who, what, where, how and why it is consumed. No more innocence or romanticism : " now you know ". Doing on your own by your own is an ethic hard to maintain. An attitude that has been natural since your first drawing as a kid is now in peril. The scheme is proportional to the simplicity of those innocent moments of sheer creativity : the more you're able to feat a category, the bigger the reward. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, SoundCloud, YouTube, etc... are social networks. Which one do you think is gonna help you create ? I'm not speaking about getting venues, meeting people, etc... I'm speaking about laying a blueprint, helping you assess what you did, do, will do, want to do. Personally what I like in Twitter is that you have to work around its limitations. It helps you keep it simple and you informed. You can also collect everything in that one place like a pad. The drawback is that notes are notes and you can loose the social and emotional aspect of such service. I'm even thinking in a near future of expliciting vocally my retweets (more to myself than to others but while welcoming feedback). So why not Twitter over another social network ? Is your favorite one helping you create ? In what ways ?

Damned ! Twitter was the shit back in the days. Now it seems nerdy and corny. I still think it's been slept on. I'll keep pioneering it though. Like I said I'm addicted to its simplicity. It gets the job done.

Had just got into Instagram and things were going well with the tags I was including in my post, but it seems theres an algorithm that only allows you to take advantage of that so many times.(In my latest post the tags aren't working)
So the app is pretty much useless to me (a distraction) at this point unless theres a work around or something I'm missing.

Twitter and Instagram are apps that I were both heavily involved in a couple years back. On IG I gained a pretty nice following with some graffiti shit. I find visual art its faster than music. Cause in music you have to click through each post and listen to determine if you like it and then browse the rest of the user's content for consistency which takes minutes; I don't have the drive to go through digging through various instagram tags looking for artist I like.

Im more comfortable with twitter, but without that following I used to have (which consisted of friends and random locals I've seen around the way) Im really just promoting to myself. Though I am more driven to start from the ground up with twitter than Instagram.

I might actually have to try out Tumblr like mentioned above

dog it's not that the tags don't work. the only way people see tagged things from non-famous accounts is if you search a tag on explore, and you look at RECENTS and those hoes change by the second, constantly being flooded. the odds are very small that someone will see your shit from tags.

They also updated their algorithm. You need to vary your tags and also to have comments longer than 3 words, same for emojis. That guy explained it well https://youtu.be/XVnYfOOpI5k. But definitely Instagram seems more creator friendly. People deserted Twitter somehow. It is appealing for lonesome prowlers like me ((:

The problem with Twitter for music right now is that you need to click a thumbnail and stop it if you scroll down the song will stop, so... it's really bad on a platform that is all about scrolling down lol.

As a platform to connect with people, I really like it. People talk about stuff there and usually care for conversations opposed to Instagram. I mean, I think that it's nice if you go there (Instagram) with a specific mindset, but people are trying so hard to hit something there that it can cause a false impression that you are achieving something, like people that follow on Soundcloud but never ever listened to one of your beats, they just want you to follow back and build numbers. Well... it works for the algorithm if you know what you're doing, but for me, fuck that... It's ruining our lives lol

played beats at a porno grindcore show the other day which was legendary, and it wouldnt have happened if i didnt meet the guy who me invited on ig. plus the way people drop shit lately you gotta be paying attention b4 it sells out, and ig/twitter is simply the best way of staying updated to any artists new stuff.

I thought all these social media platforms have some sort of algorithm.

I actually deleted my twitter. my following wasn't saying much and i felt nobody was paying attention to my posts.

I have a better following on Instagram. Seems as more people are drawn towards it. Art work or Pictures spark more interest generally. Have a snippet of your beats playing in the background of a 59 second video and watch the likes pile up.

IG is a cool way to share your portfolio. Regardless of algorithms, likes, and followers, it’s easy to share and direct people to your real website/contact info. You can make it easy for people to get a good idea of what your brand is about. It’s almost like an extended business card.

I think that Instagram still continues to lead. Now a lot of people are engaged in business on Instagram and buy ready-made accounts for this at https://accfarm.com it is very convenient and does not require spending additional time on registration.
