With the sp404a looking like real disappointment, what would
you want in a new Roland sampler?

I would like to see:

-Resampling in pattern mode.
-Resampling with external sequencer playing a pattern.
-Resamping and recording external at the same time.
-More polyphony in pattern and resampling mode.
-Switching samples mono/stereo without resamping them.
-Dual sfx.
-HP filter.

404 is bad ass and so simple, that's what I like about it but here's a few things that would make me upgrade. Other then that I would look at adding a Digitakt or MPC Live to my setup for more options.

Built in rechargeable battery
Usb connectivity to use as a controller and sample movement to PC/Mac
Use Metronome when ever
Ability to play pattern/resample while recording from external
Time out turn off so I don't keep killing my battery
Keep similar form factor and layout so no menu diving

Roland fucked up with the 404A...
Microsampler can do most of those things you listed.

All of the things listed by this threads OP are what i really want for the 404, along with pads, instead of buttons, and optional velocity. It would be great if it had pads instead of buttons.

All I would need is some proper pitch control, pattern resampling, and mute groups. They could have basically taken the best of all the other samplers they made and put it into one but hell no to that I guess.

if you could switch mono/stereo without resampling the file on the memory wouldn't change... so if you were trying to change it and upload it to your computer it wouldn't work

i'd like to see more trippy fx tbh i get along fine with an sp303 to make beats so i don't need any fancy shit... i can work around 8)

A decent fucking sequencer and resample that doesn't glitch/lag or have polyphony limitations.

@formal .. oh yea .. resampling can get harsh (depends on your mixing process) .. and some type of visual db measure to avoid distortion .. and pre mastering considerations
