Saw this online today and it looks very promising, although the price tag is hefty !!!

Looks dope, but $500 too much for me. Pretty much what I wanted the Akai Touch to be. Hopefully Roland puts out something similar in the $500-$1000 price range. I can live without the analog filters (even though that's icing on the cake).

shit, i'll pay 500. i'll pay more than that. that bitch is sexy as hell.

it's what i was hoping Roland would do for a new sp (but i knew they wouldn't)

Roland now thinks the 404 is the way to go with their samplers and they want all their new 404 samplers to have keyboards attached.

that thing though is like a 606 made for today.

i'll buy a Toraiz SP-16, a Zoom r24 and a Casio XW-PD1 then i'll be done.

sampler .synth .interface all groove grid. can't wait.

You realize it's $1500, not $500?? That's a serious chunk of change for a 1st gen, 1st rev piece of gear. Hell, even an Elektron Octatrack is cheaper ;)
I'm curious to see what this bad boy can do, but some stuff kinda worries me.

Looks like it's only 4 bars for sequences.
Poly limit
Unquanitized sequencing?
No mention of how it handles chopping
Is there a 16 level/chord mode?

But ya.... $999.99 seems like what this should retail for and what would make it more tempting to me. That extra $500 keeps it out of my impulse gear buying range.

I'm not sure about that. I am sure that a company like Pioneer put a lot of consideration into that when designing it.

Yeah I been looking at this for weeks since its announcement, its fucken dope! I want to see more though to justify that kind of a price tag.

So far, from what I dug up its 16 polyphony, 16 step sequencer to build patterns and a 16 track recorder/mixer to build songs. And its huge! 17"Wx10"Lx3"D approx. It has some type of chopping feature called Slice or Splice, not sure. Effects and filters are global which sucks but its too early to say, since the OS is still being worked on.

I'm definitely copping one, but after a few months after release when the bugs are plucked.

There are a few videos out about it, nothing past the Pad screen... Understandable for a device with incomplete firmware.

I want to know how the Slice mode handles. Hopefully you will be able to play a sample and tap the pads to slice a sample, I have always wanted this feature. Hell, Cool Edit Pro from 1999 had the live keyboard Mark feature...

I preordered the SP-16 as the release date on a certain site was May 16, then May 25, then Jul 12, then Sep 9...

I will wait until it comes out to see some video reviews. Or maybe I will grab it up and make my own reviews! Here's to a hope that I won't be returning / selling it within the first two weeks :)

From one vid I remember him saying that there will be all sorts of ways to sample. By the way he described it, will be like Korg's MicroSampler of sampling to multiple pads in realtime just hitting pads as it samples the source.

The longer it takes to get it out on the market, the better, because it did look glitchy and no one has demonstrated it to see its full potential. But Pioneer backing this thing up, can only mean a promising outcome.

This forum should get revamped for it, after all it is an SP.

Haha, I don't like them either. But aside from that it seems to be a pretty cool device.
