Yeah, you are somewhat right about that. The SP-404 as is, is already very powerful though, but what I don't get is why they are releasing newer machines that actually have some less features.

It seems like they want you to buy all their machines... but what kind of work-flow is that?

There are some SP-505 features that should have been on the SP-606, same goes for SP-555.

maybe Quetzalcoatl will bring pitching, multiple effects chaining and velocity sensitive pads together into the one SP unit?!

bring on the singularity!

Oh snap... that's hilarious.

Nicely done Olby. So on point... you should def holler at Roland! You could be on their R&D team and test the ultimate SP. We'll be watching videos of you at NAMM and shit!

Yo, thanks guys, but I think Roland has enough talented people on their back I guess it's just their marketing trick to make cheap samplers that lack something thus maybe these dudes then will upgrade to something more expensive like the MV series.

If would now how to code well and how to crack the 404 OS open I would def make you this update. Imagine that pitch shifting and other stuff can be simply implemented with using shortcut key combinations, thus what we need is simply an OS update. For example press PITCH + HOLD and you are in sample tune mode and so on. Storing pattern BPM is ridiculously simple I poked around with pattern files and thus my coding skills are low I definately see some basic stuff over there. You can see like each note, it's volume and it's timing and so on. Why they did not add a simple number value of BPM in the begging of the pattern file I don't know.

I really guess this is just their marketing stuff they are into. There is simply no other excuse why these functions are not added.

Peace,
Olby

It's also cheaper, production-wise to use the same old processors they bought up back in the day. Like the 404 is a 303 with a different case basically with minor OS updates. All they had to buy was the new case molds and they have whole new product to market.

Which is what 303 and 505 appears to be - same sample engine inside.

Really, I gotta get unbroke and get some more gear to make my life easier. I guess I'll just do work with the 303 until people actually want to buy my music. :(

Lol, yet I'm pretty sure you won't regret buying a MPC4k or MV.

Don't get rid of your MPC1k if you decide to buy either of those though.
