beep, ah, fressshhhh
yo that film is pure medicine.... I LOVE IT!!!
everytime I'm unsatisfied with my scratch and all, I'll get my eyes on that and after some minutes watching woosh I'm back on the 1&2s...

My favourite words on this are from stevie dee saying if you practise for one year, and give up everything, women, wine . . . everything... you would be the best at would you do...

That's why I got so much love for them turntablists! You'll have to be mentally and physicly (at least in some way) fit which is quit a challenge isn't it...?
Practising scratches won't work stoned, thrust me!!!
So if you smoke, get that weed off ya headz, save that money, get your self a turntable and mixer and be the best in just ONE year!!!!

:?
works fine for me, Wax

in fact, there's great synergy between the scratch and the smoke!

Don't tell the children!

...I do it, too no question... but I remember the time I was really hard practising certain scratches I had more success by doin it not ... In my eyes scratching is someway like musical sport... you have to be fit... but this all wasn't thought as an advice... just an opinion... so light it up and cut it up if you like to... btw. how long are you on scratching drew? (does anybody know any alternative to make scratch-sessions in the internet... is this possible nowadays?! like voip or sth... ???)

 yeah man, i feel what you're saying
if i'm wasted, i'm certainly not gonna be practicing my cuts. but being nicely baked makes for a wicked scratch session. it's definitely like a sport, in the sense that you need co-ordination

i've been scratching for about 18 months. i'm really very amateur, i haven't practiced any of the formal techniques, sort of just scratched away by myself until it started sounding 'good'. but, like Stevie Dee recommended, i practice everyday, even if it's just for 5-10 minutes. it's great fun!

That's how it goes !!! Keep it that way... and ty to learn the basics as clean as possible in the beginning and don't be scared to repeat the same scratch over and over just to handle it by sleep!

that will make improvisation much easier in the future... even if you thinking now you're only scratching "for fun"...
I remember my first 2-3 years were the biggest crap... that's the time most people give up but after you're through (which doesn't mean I'm a pro... no way...) you're be the gladest mf

... and girls 'll love you !!! :D

im not a guy who does shrooms a lot but whenever i do i love to cut. if you're into scratching you know that sometimes when you cut you're just in that "zone" where you come up with the most funky shit. after shrooms it's like you're immediately there.

i love scratching and then i hate it. sometimes i'll cut for weeks straight almost non-stop not concentrating on anything else and then i won't touch my decks for a couple of months.

my crossfader is broken
it was on the verge of breaking for ages, and i tried to treat it well. but now there is 'noise' whenever i move it close to either end, and there is also bleed from each channel entering when the fader is all the way towards the other channel's side.

the mixer itself (Numark DM1050) is a piece of shit, so i'm gonna grab a new one.
any recommendations?
i need it to have a decently made crossfader that won't fuck up, and be fairly affordable.

edit: made a thread in Other Gear:
