Yeah, to each his own. I just don't like to limit myself anymore, I used to have sampling restrictions on myself so to speak but now I just try to express myself how I see fit and since I don't try to make a profit from my tracks I don't feel like I disrespect any of the artist I sample.

Yeah,J Lo and Puffy did bite big time.I have a small collection of old school hiphop 12inches and I sample some drum hits because they were processed all analog and they thump big time.

i think it's ok to sample from other hip-hop artists ''creatively'', it's been done before... i don't think it's ok to sample a 20 bar loop from other hip-hop artists ''uncreatively...

No bitin' allowed. Sample anything, just be original. For me, the best part of sampling is the flip. If you are making music that fits a certain genre, and you sample something from a different genre, the flip is probably more creative and impressive. That's what hip hop is about. Takin drums from other hip hop is one thing (like the Fugees grabbin the break from "Bonita Applebaum"), but taking a melody (like J Lo andc the Beatnuts) is a little more risky.

Yeah, that J-Lo song was plain stealing.I read that the Beatnuts worked pretty hard to make that sample work.
