Ha, the mpc is finally dead. You can program on this like an mpc with the live recording and like and sp with a step sequencer. There are two versions, one is a new mpc with new quantize algorhythms and the other adds a synth designed by Dave Smith. Roger Linn designed the sampler portion insuring a solid product around $1,000-1,500.

yo and for that price I still better cop an MPC with bigger screen probably more features etc. This I guess is just an update to that one of the first drum machines.

This thing is way better than an mpc and is not just an upgrade of the Linn Drum. Of course you can sample with it are you joking?, the sampler is digital and the analog part is referring to the analog synth by Dave Smith that is built into the high end model. Sorry for the 2 posts on this, I don't know what happened with that.

no i just heard that it wouldn't have sampler capabilities.
i'd like to see how it compares to something like the JOMOX or the machinedrum for pure analog drum sounds (btw ive had some experience on the machinedrum, not the sampler version, and you are paying the price for the ill sounds and the fact that the thing is so easy to program)

i'm pretty interested in seeing what this can do...and boy am i thankful they did away with the terrible blue look when it was called the Boomchik. black and gray is better.

i have both a Machinedrum and a Monomachine and i see the Linndrum here being more a response to those. MPC's are cool and all, but they are not what i'd call great live sample mangling drum synth machines. every parameter is easily reached on a machinedrum. Automation is easily locked in the patterns. watch some youtube videos on just how on the fly you can do things. they're capibilties swing a bit to the IDM crowd, but you can use them for anything.

looking forward to how Linn2 works, especially the analog version.

Quote:
16 megabytes of internal flash memory exist for sound storage, but because sound data is read directly from flash, expanding sound memory is accomplished merely by plugging a compact flash card into the rear panel slot. Inputs and outputs include four audio outs, two sampling/audio processing/drum trigger inputs, phones, USB, MIDI in/out, two expression pedal/foot switch inputs, and four additional direct voice outputs for the Analog model.

that's what i'm interested in
