no doubt, the MPCs are the best at what they do- so are the SPs.

I love my 404. I even saved 400 bucks so if it breaks I can get a new one as soon as possible. The machine is so much fun and even the bad timestretche is good sometimes. The SP 404 has a weird sound, but I love it.

Yeah, I love my sp-303. I wouldn't even consider trading my 303 for the mpc60II I used to own.

why does it seems like no one ever says anything good about MPCs here? :)

but like soopa said "the 404 is my homie". I dont break out the MPCs too often anymore but i still love them. It feels good to get back on the 2000xl after not using it for a while. I dont really feel that way with the 1000 though.

I still love my the MPC.
But at the moment the speed and usabillity of the 404 just gives me a creative boost everytime.

And god help you when I'm high, I create 6 different tracks from the same song with it.

I just think the 303 has a much better sound with more effects to make almost any sound in the box, the only thing I find better on the mpc is the sequencer. A $1000 hardware sequencer in this day of full featured computer DAWs is completely rediculous to me, I can change the humanize presets in FL and get the same sequencing no problem. Plus FL 8 is going to have dashboards that are virtual representations of popular hardware samplers so you can use FL as a sequencer. They already have some Roland dashboards done so if they make one for the 303 and I can sequence with FL ease and 303 sound and effects it's a wrap.

I think I have to agree here. Aren't MPCs and SPs like apples and oranges...?

One is a sampler and the others are more like phrase samplers, at least that's the case when you would compare the SP606 to a MPC1000 or MPC500.

I haven't fooled around with the Roland MV8800, but I can imagine that one would be a better comparison to the MPCs.

I've heard sound is different, but I've heard some completely insane beats made on just an MPC too, so it doesn't seem like a limitation.

I used to own a MPD24 and if those pads are anything like you would get on an MPC I would definitely forget about that whole MPC. I don't like to hit my pads with a hammer just to get some sound out of it. ;)

Then again, I don't really know what I'm talking about, because I haven't actually used an MPC1000 yet. To each its own.

I had a little breaktrough with the mpc the other day!lolIn the end each to there own!but I think my problem was tryin to get the vibe of the sp on the mp and thats not gonna happen!Like juxt said both machines are dope in there own rite!plus i think i need a break fron the sp and come back fresh cuz lately the sp hasnt been fun its been more tedious!
