This is a tune made with Cartesia's 'octave of synth notes' sounds.

Warning: Don't bother listening if you don't like house/techno!!

The beat is just a loop, so yes it's a tad boring - but I was having too much fun messing with the synth sounds to bother too much with it..

The other sounds, such as the bass and hoover, are sequenced on the 606 too - the high-pitched hoover is going through the 'rotary speaker' effect which I love...

first day - edit.mp3 - 4.52MB

one for the dance-heads

that's an amazing tune man, good work. it sounds completely professional, both in terms of musical arrangement and mixing/mastering. the filter sweeps sound brilliant, and the synthline during the breakdown in the middle of the track works nicely. all the synth parts mixed together really well, both the sounds and their melodies and rhythms.

there's lots of really nice pattern switches here, they all sound natural and in the groove. i find that one of the hardest parts of arranging, making all the looped sections integrate and feed into each other, raise/lower the intensity.

i'll post some of my dancier tunes when i get a chance, see what the forum thinks...

Thanks man, you're too nice...

Arranging is one of the things that an SP helps with, I think, as you can actually play your patterns along and see how different switches/combos work.

The filter sweeps were done with the D-beam filter, which is very similar to the 'super filter' on the 555 I think. The high-pass option works great for breakdowns, as in this track.

I'd love to hear a dance record from you man - post it up! Not everyone is a hip-hop head  (not that there's anything wrong with hip-hop either; I just live in clubland  )

I really liked that a lot, it sounds completely professional. It kinda makes me wanna dance and I don't dance.

Yeah, real good stuff coming out of your machine, I like the variety in style, to be honest I kinda get tired of only hip hop beats being posted despite the fact that it's my discipline of choice.

Plus, fact is, I can learn an awful lot from hip-hop production and I'm sure there's a trick or two the house-heads could share with the b-boys :)

At the end of the day, the technical aspects of what we all do are very similar.

Yup, a good beat is a good beat period. My friend who showed me how to mix and use his tec 1200's is a dope House dj.
