Hey bridge. Go to cydia (cuz I'm sure you're jailbroken) go pay $1.99 for an app called "retinapad". Open beatmaker 2 and rejoice! You can thank me later :D

That looks cool, I'm not jailbroken though.

Really glad i got my first gen. Looks like ipad 3 will be the real next leap, ipad 2 doesn't bring much of anything new to the table.

Bridge do you work for Intua? cause you up in this thread reminding me of people that used to try to sell me on equipment when I worked in the lab...we get it you think it's a great app and we should all buy it immediately

Ever since touch devices first came out I was fascinated with the idea of chopping audio by placing slice points with a touch screen. Beatmaker 2 is the first app to deliver and its amazing. People have questions I just chime in, I just want to contribute to the forum in a positive way. By all means have your own opinion and think Beatmaker sucks I aint tryin to sell it to anyone, but this functionality for $20 does really sell itself. I want to make my own app though that would merk BM2, just need someone to program my idea.

Let's talk about some other dope new apps though. I just got YUMI:synth which emulates a bowed string type instrument, really like that. Also like Polychord. Also anyone who says I'm a beatmaker fan boy, I'm really and ELECTRIFY fan boy. That's my axe! It just got another really nice update.

Way out ware's synth x. By far the best synth for iPad! Really set a new standard in terms of not only interface, but especially sound quality. Really starting to sound close to some good vst's.

+1 on electrify. Really great app and the closest thing to a korg electribe ESX.

Also check out synthtronica, a new formant synth/sampler app. Ugly interface, but great sounds.

Just won a Yamaha QY70 on ebay. Not for an IPad or Iphone but still a cool mobile compositional device.

Hell if it is a good enough tool for Thom Yorke, Bjork, and Jah Wobble I am willing to give one a try.

There's lots of BM2 vs Nanostudio comparisons.

Nanostudio:

Pros

- smooth UI and ease of use for recording
- lots of options for exporting sounds
- midi support
- awesome synth

Cons

- Only one sampler module at the moment (more to come)
- No native ipad version or retina display support (coming in update)
- No audio tracks
- No slicing system

Beatmaker 2:

Pros

-Modular set up for unlimited Samplers, Keyboard modules and FX units
- Chainable FX
- Beat Slicing system
- Import MP3 from ipod library to chop
- All main sample features found on MPC
- Multi Sampler synth module

Cons

- Crashes pretty frequently
- Synth pretty weak in comparison to nano (no stock wave tables for synthesizing)
- Clunky interface can lag sometimes
- no midi support (coming in update)
- my usb interface causes the app to crash
- No support for older devices (ipod1, ipod2, iphone2g, iphone3g)
- Needs better exporting options

Both are good appz don't get me wrong. I own both and use both. Currently Beatmaker seems to be more powerful for what I do and nanostudio is easier to just sit down and jam with.

Also Garageband for iPad just released today. I'm about to get down on that and see if it's any good.
