Thanks, nice stuff. Is there a chance of Roland using the new timestrech and pitch algorythm on a 404 successor that might feature the velocity sensitive pads. Thats all I really would need added to have a great portable sampler, but when it comes to the 555 I have no need because I can do all that and more from a laptop for live applications and more advanced sequencing jobs for production. I find that people enjoy the sp samplers for the simplicty and compact design, I feel like the larger and more complex the sp-series gets the further they get from the core users.

I would like to see the subsonic vid, but you linked to the loop capture video twice!

cool vids,

I agree with Dr 303, is there any chance of a new improved 404, or some kind of successor? the 555 has great features, but the thing i love about the 404 is the portability.

*is probably dreaming*

It might be a dream, but having Mike Acosta on the board is best chance we'll get with Roland in terms of product suggestions.

Yeh, this board best demonstrates how the sp series key demographic are users who use them as grooveboxes rather than dj set enhancers primarily , who i think roland initially targeted ...

its also a much cheaper/more portable alternative to the mpc/mv series. (well atleast it used to before the 555)

In the perfect world there would be the sp-120 which has the sequencer/workflow and converters of the sp-1200 with portability, effects and sample storage space of the 404....

in a perfect world the sp 404 would have a good pitch shift- thats it.

word ! It would be ill if they came out with an optional update that changed the the pitch shift effect to just pitch...minus the shift :)

Cool , ill take your suggestions and send them over to Japan. Just think of the 555 as the flagship of the SP series. The 555 is a fun piece to play with and come up with great new audio loops.

Im also using in the studio as an effect processor , ill run guitars thru it and drums for tracking. The type of sound i get out of it is cool and unique.

Yeah, i also record everything through the 404 with an sm57, and the sound is perfect. Infact i just picked up an sp-303 so i can record with two effects simultanously. (well, actually thats only one of the reasons i picked up the 303..)

I also cant record vocals without the 404's reverb. Its so rich and warm and makes me regret ever buying the masterverb plugin.

and another reason i want to pick up the 555, is so i can use my rode nt2 condenser mic.
