I save all my beats on my sp too :)

It makes it my perfect portable companion......sp404sx & a little bag full of memory cards. Can either make beats or listen to beats (while playing with effects).

Also if you get a rhyme idea, like when driving (I freestyle a lot when driving) you can just spit it in the mic so you don't forget it

I just read this about the sp-202 sampling time:

4 min. 20 sec. internal
up to 37 min. using optional 4MB SmartMedia card

But I have a feeling it depends on what sampling rate you sample at. I bet the above figures are max (sampling at low sample rate).

Anyone with a sp-202 correct me if I'm wrong

Mono Hi-Fi = 32 seconds. Lo-Fi 2 = 4:30 minutes.

I think with the bigger smartcard you can save 5 minutes on hi-fi and 30 on lo-fi 2 on pattern C and D. These pads usually loads slowly and when using them you will be using 3 voices of 4 on the SP202.

yeah i only used my 202 to process the final song.

doing a live set with it seems like a huge pain and its slow and the memory cards are expensive and hard to find.

i guess you could use it as an fx pedal but certain fx will only be applied if you sample the audio first.

it is battery powered tho!!!

WOA, that's crazy, sample rates make a huge difference!

trust me, the lo-fi modes aren't worth using at all
i won't even use standard, sounds like shit.

btw the 202 was considered a budget dj tool in 1995

if you're looking to have 8 beats on your sampler at once, you can't even go for a 303, you need at least a 404 or more capable piece of equipment.

you understand that the 202 doesn't have a sequencer and doesn't even have resample capability right??? please just look into the shit before you post questions on a forum for no god damn reason. look up "sp202 specs" on google. read the manual. NOT HARD AT ALL TO DO THIS

btw what sharris said about having multiple memory cards, you're not going to want to do this with a 202. you should use the same memory card and not ever remove it.

I wouldn't really bother with the 202. The LoFi modes are real bad and in hifi there's only, like, 30 seconds sample time.

Also there's no resample function on the 202, which is a serious drawback.

It's fun to mess with and the pitch is alright if you like grit but it's no good as a main sampler.

The 303 is basically one step up, and generally way overpriced. If you want to go with a og Roland I'd recommend the 505 but the SX or 555 are objectively the best in the series.

I do agree with zendan that details of the 202 can easily be found...
but readin this forum, I see TG just likes startin discussions.
I think it's just that he'd rather ask *his sp fam*
the ones with the knowledge 8)
Maybe even get a few extra tips & tricks :P
Over lookin up what Google has to say :|

I could be wrong tho :?

Amen, this question is almost as stupid as this guy who couldn't figure out his power supply!!

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25446

The Great and Sharris for your and future searcher's reference the sample times are.

Internal:
4 minutes 20 seconds (LO-FI 2 grade)
32 seconds (Hl-FI grade)
Memory Card (Optional) :
S2M-5: 17 minutes 51 seconds (LO-Fl 2 grade)
2 minutes 14 seconds (HI-Fl grade)
S4M-5:. 35 minutes 43 seconds (LO-Fl 2 grade)
4 minutes 27 seconds (HI-Fl grade)

I do agree with Zendan that the best is the 404 for holding full tracks/beats. But also a nice little tascam DP006, DP004 is going to do the same and give you transport controls. Plus it's recorded as a wav for easy transport to the computer via smart media or usb.

yes, especially the 404sx for its SD card memory format.
it's wonderful to use as an audio interface for getting shit onto and off of your computer in hi fidelity quality, it has a retarded amount of memory that you would never use completely, and you can switch as many memory cards as you want.

you can literally have 120 different beats on one sd card

- edit -

sorry read my next post where i correct myself

i only meant you can use it as a way to get shit on and off your computer

didn't know the exact definition of audio interface

The 404sx doesnt act as an audio interface g, do you even own one? Only the 606 and 555 act as audio interfaces. Do you know anything? Read the manual, retard
