I love using actual hardware and stuff but after i've been moving around a lot these last few years into various sized living spaces but moving all that shit up and down walk ups after the first few moves got old reallll quick.

and sometimes i just want to make something without the hassle of bouncing audio from machine to machine.

Here are a few fav ones that i use basically every time.

vulf compressor by goodhertz
https://goodhertz.co/vulf-comp

decimort by d16
http://d16.pl/decimort2/overview

little alter boy by soundtoys
http://www.soundtoys.com/product/little-alterboy/

my sp303 is still my favorite tool tho!

i'm a Universal Audio user. They make the best emulations of Hi-Fidelity hardware! better than Waves IMO.
I persoanlly own the Apollo Twin. It comes with a UA 610 Preamp (although I have separate preamps that i plug my mic into) Pultec EQ's and LA-2A Limiters.

I also acquired other vst's that emulate Fender Rhodes and Hohner Clavinets.
I would love to actually own a real one or at least a Nord Keyboard but them shit's expensive.

Native Instrument's - Scarbee's Mark V...
actually i try to cop any of Scarbee's sampled instruments. His rhodes sound sooo good. You'll only want to play a real one only for the experience after use that vst.

My chain for rhodes is usually the Rhodes VST -> decimort -> vulf compressor.

the vulf compressor is emulating the sp303 vinyl sim. the flutter and compression are basically the exact same thing.

^Foreal. The thing with vst's is that they sounds too clean. need to get em sounding a bit dirty. The 303 would definitely help out in that scenario.

yeah. they actually sound real nice. I was going to find my fx peddles stored at my parents place but the onboard fx are legit.

i still run it thru my sp303 though!!!!!

i only ever really use the nord to play with other people without having to bring my computer. I'd rather record with my VSTs cause i think they sound nicer.

i think i seen an old one for sale last year... i was broke so i couldn't buy it...
The advantage of midi keyboards is that they're light weight. I like to travel so things like dimensions and weight are always a factor when i get gear... at the same time, i want more "stand alone" gear so i can take pressure off my laptop. don't wanna run up my RAM (although its ok if i only use 1 software sound at a time)

Yeah I'd find a used nord electro 3 if you can. they aren't that heavy but they aren't super light either.

TG homies put me on to PEACH which is free.
Got all those top secret NES samples loaded inside.

All TAL VSTs are amazing and free.

Also like the mentioned VULF but still doesn't sound as good as 505/303 compression

Synth1 is always loaded up.
