Do me (and mostly yourself) a favor and go experiment with the settings that I just mentioned.

that's why r4ph said "and i'm not saying that this THE WAY to do it"

for me it's MFX12 (with different settings depending of what i want / release-attack) then resample on tape (wich bring tape compression)
sometimes i use vinyl sim instead and it kills dynamics like you said: sometimes it's good, sometimes bad

he said that after i called him out bro

and nah bro mfx12 kills dynamics way more than vinyl sim comp!!! you can adjust the threshold on vinyl sim comp. you can't on mfx12 comp, it just dead ass crushes.

r4ph431, i can tell by looking at the waveforms on your soundcloud that almost every single beat is just slammed against a compressor completely crushed, lowest threshold, strongest gain. this destroys dynamics completely. oldheads that love jazz always talk about how the 80s, when people started getting into compressing music, how jazz died and music was ruined forever. anyway, i'm not saying there's anything wrong with crushing your dynamics if that's w hat you wanna do, and that's the sound you're going for. just please please don't act like you know more than me or that you can teach me anything ahahahaha.

you WISH you could master shit like i can.

Do you even understand what the 1.5:1 ratio does?
Or are you just bluntly displaying your ignorance?

you suck dude. i'm sorry.

when i joined lofi.hiphop (which btw i was close friends with matt [bsd.u], used to talk to him every day on chat until late at night sometimes just me and him and he even reposted my beats before and also i was like the 7th user to join the forum) i wrote an ENTIRE ARTICLE like 200 - 300 words long on dynamic range compression nigga. it was the top stickied on production techniques. i'm not going to benefit from any kind of advice you can give me on music. i'm beyond it.

You're bragging about everything that I've grown to dislike about this ALTERNATIVE HIP-HOP (or "LOFI HIPHOP", as the dullards call it) scene

and

trying to implement all your own flaws and shortcomings on to me.

It's really sad and pathetic.

I could engage you in an argument and prove to you why you're wrong but that's not what I'm here for...

Unlike you,
I'm not here trying to promote my music.
I'm not putting up a front or boasting.

I simply come to this forum to share my knowledge, experience, and to support other like-minded artists in their musical endeavors.

&Yeah, sometimes it comes in the form of criticism, but it's almost always constructive and/or humorous.

Never hateful of petty.

But whatever, words are wind.

If you really want to put your money where your mouth is, meet in the arena for a beat battle and we can let our music speak for itself.

yeah i hate that forum and everything it stands for. your beats are mastered the exact same as the shit everyone on that forum makes.

and you were boasting and criticizing me dog, like i quoted you on saying "Do me (and mostly yourself) a favor and go experiment with the settings that I just mentioned."

like i already have said in other threads, most people on this forum now hate me so i'm not going to participate in the arena if everyone is just going to ignore my shit or talk shit about it regardless of its merit. i let my own music speak for itself. http://www.soundcloud.com/zendanisdead
