I found a cool way to chop samples fast if you own Propellerhead's Recycle.

Set SP to Auto Trig Level = 1.
Send computer out to SP line in.
Open Recycle, open desired file.
In Recycle, chop the sample.
Enable preview.
Disable stretch in the Envelope section.
Pitch as desired.
Record slices one at a time into the SP.

Just a way to sidestep truncating within the SP.

Recycle is great to quick chop in. I used that program for so many years with fl and reason. I didn't need it anymore after switching to Ableton. I did use it with the 303 few times like you are talking about. The stretch amount can add some cool tails on to micro chops. Plus you can export the chops out to wave files and load them on to cards.

I first started with sampling wav files to recycle for reason 5... I think in my opinion if you want to quickly sample a individual track with chops throughout the whole song id definitely go for reason than any sp.. Well like the 202 404 303 idk if the 505 can do that.. also does anyone know? But yeah if i can find a copy of recycle again.

IMO Wax Inspector already came with the most efficient way to chop samples on the 404 OG

Someone else on the forums came with a way to do it with the 404SX as well

someone on youtube already explained the wax method.

perhaps I should do one for the SX

for OG: Page 1+2 (Page 2 has a video) for SX: Page 4
