Yo, well I have a question regarding the sp's compressor (606/404sx). I like to compress some beats using mfx12, give them a nice, gritty feel. I was wondering if it was a good idea to do the "mastering" (in general tape sat + eq or dynamic eq to boost a bit the lows and mids) before bumping the beat to sp's compress or to do it after ? Or maybe it doesn't do any difference ?
Thanks in advance, and have some nice holidays

hi , yessir .. personally I'd do all processing (EQ etc) . Then the compressor last . the compressor is good .. you could use the compressor in a DAW for more control ( if you own a DAW also) I've not used the 404 compressor much myself

It makes a difference. I recommend EQing - compress - tape sat. My opinion, you could change the order how you want it. Just try different signal chains to hear the difference and decide which you like most.
Nice holidays, keep experimenting.

Thanks for the answers, going to try different process. I also just saw that it when cutting frequencies it was better to eq then compress (so the bad frequencies don't get compressed), whereas when boosting it's better to do it after
