yo!

i just bought myself a tascam portastudio 414 from ebay while i was drunk lol.
i've been looking into this machine for a while, and now i have it!

now my question is - how do you use it on your workflow? do you bounce sample to track 1, kick to track 2 etc or do you export the whole beat to the same track for the sound? and do you do it before or after compression on the sp?

sorry for these questions, i'm a total noob with cassettes.

I used to use 424 until it broke but i'd just use it for one stereo out from the sp, thats mostly because i always resample but i guess how you want to mix it after, you can always do tape bounces so kick on 1, snare kn 2 etc then bounce it all to track 4 to save space or you could have all druns on kne track, main chords on anither, melody on another suppose its up to you really isnt it, i just like that hissy tape sound so used it only for a final mix

Used the mini porta studio a couple years back.. I think mine was broken tho.. Id usually only use one track for recording the whole beat. I would still use the other tracks for the hiss.. But, everytime id played back my recording it be in a faster tempo.................. I now use a tape deck tho and record straight from the sp.
