I'm a new 404 user and have been wanting to.... well... keep more drum hits on my SP just incase i'm away form my computer and i'm in a struggle or can't manage to exactly manipulate what I have on board.

Call me crazy but...
I've been thinking about the idea of maybe recording a whole drum folder, or library, by hitting record on my SP and inputing audio from ableton. I would set it up so I would just click and run down my drum hit library and just running down the sample library letting them auto play essentially recording the whole library of snares or percs back to back. This shouldnt be TOO crazy of a memory burden if i get a little larger SD card.

This way, i only take up 1 or so pad per type of hit and can just use the MARK - UN MARK - RESAMPLE technique to have a shit load of drums on board instantly. anyone done this? is there a better way? am i retarded? lol

for the sake of shameless self promotion (check this shit i put together today)

i just recently did the same (not a a whole library just like 15 drum-sounds in a row) and it's a nice Workaround especially on 202/303 where you ain't got that much pads or Banks.

yes, that guy -Lip put me onto this technique some years ago. Just another genius but simple workaround of the 404's limitations

I have done this, but not recently, it´s kind of messy and becomes annoying, listening to the right drum, marking it.. etc.
But yeah, it does work..
But I found a better solution for this, I have a small handheld recorder, onto which I can put a shitload of one-shot drum samples and then just cycle through them. I can play them all one after the other or make it loop each sample until press "next" or "previous" and it will move on to the next sample, when I find what I want I just sample it to a pad on the SP.
