I just purchased an SP303 sampler, and im pretty new to this thing. I have now filled up all my memory cards, and I was wondering if anyone here would like to share what you then do with your beats? I know i have to get a soundcard and some kind of music program to record it in, but I would love to hear some different ways to do this.

Thankful for every response!

TL;DR: Try a USB mixer like the LD Systems LAX3, or Behringer Xenyx 302USB, etc. They are better than an RCA to 3.5 jack cable.

I have a Behringer XENYX 302USB mixer / interface to record the output of my SP-202.

I used to use RCA to 3.5 jack Y-cables, but my experience is that the 3.5 mic in of a laptop is just not suitable for taking the output from like, anything other than a cheap headset for Skyping.

I use Audacity for all my recording tasks, and there is a considerable difference between recording with a Y-cable and recording with a USB mixer. Cables tend to be noisy, 3.5 female jack inputs can be loose and mess with the signal, etc.

You can pick up a Xenyx 302usb for around $50.00 or even less secondhand - if you have that kind of money, it is a worthy investment.

You guys might want to check out the entire Xenyx series - while the 302 is a 3-input mixer, there are 5, 8 etc. input USB mixers too. Although I believe a 3-input mixer must be sufficient - you can hook up two instruments (sampler, turntable, etc) and a microphone properly.

Note that Behringer has an analog line of mixers - ones which do not have 'USB' in their model number. They are essentially the same, but without an USB port.

can vouch for the quality of the xenyx Q802 USB model...think it was like 70 bucks or maybe less off of amazon...really nice and plenty of inputs etc. for what the OP wants.
Edit:80 bucks....http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Q802USB-8-Channel-Mixer/dp/B008O517IC/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1454270269&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=xenyx+802

Also this might help illustrate one way the 404 can be used w/ Ableton or another DAW for effects etc.

Does anyone else just resample the whole beat/song onto one pad and then just copy that onto your pc? For me, that's way faster than hooking up cables to my interface etc. I'm on the 404SX.

I did that in the beginning when making 404 only beats but the polyphony issue became a hassle so now if i make 404 only its using the 99 bars method and bouncing back and forth from my computer or tape deck.

you could just remove the SD cards and put it in your computer and you should be able to open the file, drag and drop. if your using a mac.

I got my beats on a 4 track cassette and want to get em on my SoundCloud and YouTube.
But my computer is dead.

I tried recording live from my cell phone close to my monitors.
But quality is shit.
