I want to keep a stereo signal all the way around, stereo going into the effect units (ie RE-20 and Sp303) and stereo back out of them into the 1604 returns. Do I have the setup below correct?

Mackie 1604 Aux Send 3 -> Sp 303 Left Input
Mackie 1604 Aux Send 6 -> Sp 303 Right Input
Sp 303 Stereo Outputs -----> Mackie 1604 Stereo Return 3
-Control volume of return using the Aux Knob labeled "3-5?

Mackie 1604 Aux Send 5 -> Space Echo RE-20 Left Input
Mackie 1604 Aux Send 4 -> Space Echo RE-20 Right Input
Space Echo RE-20 Stereo Outputs -> Mackie 1604 Stereo Return 4
-Control volume of return using the Aux Knob labeled "4-6?

Sounds about right. If you send the Audio out of your mixer to the RE20, then return the output of the pedal back to the return, your channels should have a auxiliary knob where you apply the dry/wet signal of the RE20 to your channel(s) you want it to use. If you set it up correctly, try to push it to the extreme on the pedal, and listen to your monitors or headphones. If you are hearing the effects, congrats, you've done it.

If it didn't work, check your cables and connections. Keep trying until you nail it down. If you still have no luck, hope your mixer's send and return wasn't fried and need repair. You can experiment with a signal of a microphone or any line instrument, and if the sp doesn't have the right juice to use the effect, perhaps you need to route in a amp or compressor in the signal chain, but somehow I doubt it.

Good luck! Have fun if it's working.

*Just saw in the manual where it said if you wanted stereo out, that the ODD Aux Sends would feed the LEFT input of the FX unit and the EVEN Aux Sends would feed the right input of the FX Unit.

I was confused because the Aux Knobs on the 1604 mixer has #1, #2, #3-5, #4-6.

So, do the Aux Knobs only control what you've got RETURNING?

So theoretically, you can go out of Aux Send 3 into the left input of the FX unit and Aux Send 6 into the right input of the FX unit (Space Echo)... and have the stereo return coming back into Stereo Return 3... and the only Aux Knob that would control the FX return would be the Aux Knob #3 (actually says 3-5 on the 1604 mixer) ?

and it doesn't matter what Aux Sends you use?

Because that was confusing me, where it shows 3-5 and 4-6, on the bottom two Aux Knobs.

(PS, I don't have the Mackie yet, just trying to figure out if it can do what I'm asking about)

THANK YA man!!
