u should probably come at it like a dj would... its gotta flow and for the most part the tempo either rises or falls meaning dont put a tape with all 100 bpm joints to crush cuz ppl subconsciously drift away nah mean. a dope ass intro is always needed for a mix tape. if u got that follow up with another banger and so on. its all about flow cuz at the end of the day the dude that does the dishes will reach 4 urs b4 another cuz it flows..

Tell a story through the order of your tracks. Approach it with some sort of purpose or intention; even if you can't concisely convey the "story" you want to tell, it will still be obvious to anyone listening that a lot of thought went into the song order and that the artist is trying to tell us something.

Even if they never figure out what that something is, the important thing is that they know "something" is there.

This made me think of Atmosphere a lot. :P (particularly When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold)

Completely unrelated, but as long as I've mentioned Slug & Ant: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4oVcEL-agZw (watch that shiiiiit). I'm rarely disappointed with Ant's beats...
