any ideas? I have an 303 and I bought an external sounblaster soundcard of ebay but it didnt have AUX inputs! It had a crappy "line-in" socket that didnt work and created maximum hum.

I was thinking of buying the SM card reader, but that wouldnt slove the problem of recording my patterns into my laptop would it?

Ive searched around and found nothing on how you record you songs onto laptop. Surely other people are doing this?

thanks for any he;p

as far as i know you'll have to look into a new soundcard/audio interface, or run da rca to 1/8 directly into your laptop's line in. though i'm hopin i'm wrong n someone's got another solution cause my post was very similar :(

my laptop doesnt have a line-in :? I wish it did.

It only has a microphone in, and if youve tried using that you will know its impossible, all you get is huge overblown static.

So I would like to know how exactly everyone else on this forum is actually recording their songs onto their computer? How do musicians do it when they go on the move, touring etc? I hear that madlib has taken his 303 all over the place.

that gives you a more 'professional' 'ine-in than the standard soundcard that shipped with your computer

get a firewire external interface and you can plug anything into your PC to record in good quality

an interface is the best way to go. if ur timid about purchasing one check out m audio for starts... most interfaces come with recording software to get u started as well and are either usb or firewire. but be sure to check the specs on ur cpu against those of the interface! we dont need ne "OH SHyt" moments... peace

an imic isint for the ipod :) it just throws the "i" in the front to jump on the bandwagon. Its basicly a real basic audio interface

I have an Edirol UA-20 that I haven't used in some time, but would stand behind as being a quality USB interface... also very portable. Could be an ideal fit depending on your needs. It served me well in my early ventures (initially used as midi in on laptop and old-ass casio keyboard, but later for recording line in from my turntable/mixer setup), but has become redundant in my current studio set-up as I can interface to my mac via my 8-trk or my 555 if necessary. Let me know if you'd be interested. I'm sure there are better products available, but this is a good entry-level interface.

Here is a link.
