anybody some nice upright bassline samples? i bin goin thru my jazz collection and very rarely do i find any straightup bass solos to sample. and those that i do find aint 2 fly. i know a lot of jazz uses the same monotonous bassline so im wonderin if anybody got suggestions for some more unique basslines?

I sampled one from a song by Maurice Esquivel (sorry if thats terrible spelling, a bit dyslexic, me) usually those kind of 50's "lounge" things have little bits of solo double bass and percussion in the intros etc.

if u makin a 404 bass kit, post a link yo. i wouldnt use more than 12. but im more interested in flippin samples and segments than makin it from scratch. witout velocity sensitivity and ish, the 404 aint for dat (in my opinion)

if i make a kit like this i will usually just use it for skratch work or ideas but every once in awhile even a nonvelocity kits will prove to tear up some funk. I will do it tonight and drop a link. Peace.

you could also just look for rekkids by great jazz bassists - if they led their own ensemble, chances are, they've got solos on the album.

coupla suggestions: charles mingus, paul chambers, stanley clarke...tho clarke played electric mostly, i fink, so not upright. also, bill laswell has a couple of loop sets for acid - you could find stuff there.

but have a google and you're sure to find names.
