Hello.

JUST GOT THE EQUIPMENT. REALLY NEW TO HARDWARE MOSTLY THE SP-303

I'm aware there are probably a ton of setup info thru this site, but I'm curious to get a good recommendation in 2017 to set up this combo.

I'm just curious which route to go: Sample thru the 303 -> MPC 2500 or Sample thru the MPC 2500 and use the 303 via midi effects.

If someone could provide a layout and a recommendation that would be awesome.

Pics, videos, any links would be really helpful.

Nice! Congrats on a dope pair of machines.

I use an MPC2500 and 404 together. I would suggest this arrangement for a nice workflow:

1. Connect outputs 1 and 2 (not the main outs) from the MPC into the inputs on the 303.

2. Connect the outputs on the 303 to the inputs 1 and 2 on the MPC.

This way, if you want to apply the SP's effects to any MPC sample, you can assign the MPC pad's output to 1 and 2 (in program mode), sending it to the 303 to be sampled, then played back (sampled again) to the MPC without risk of feeding back, and without having to switch any cables between the 2 units. Your MPC's main outs are now free to send to your DAW or whatever else. Hitting the "input thru" key on the MPC, you can audition any incoming signal in real-time. But beware, when you are actually sampling into the MPC, be sure to turn off "input through" because otherwise you'll catch some extra noise.

If you connect the MPC's midi out to the 303's midi in, bpm-related FX such as delay on the 303 will match the tempo of your MPC's sequencer.

If your MPC doesn't have JJOS I would suggest buying it here:

because it's way better than AKAI's OS.
