I was just wondering, for the people who only use a SP-404 and a turntable... how do you achieve basslines?

you can use subbass and resample different pitch variations for all the tones you need

I put in a vinyl with some nice bass solos and sample and chop 'em.

The isolator will also do this. I was just working on some basslines five minutes ago. Do the subbass way (if you sample and use a melody play it back the same way twice, and the second way being a version of the melody or notes where everything has been stripped but the bass and some mid frequencies, and then you boost these up- instant in-key bassline) or you could also just sample bass notes.

Damn everyone's up.

I'm laming out, it's saturday at midnight and I'm tired and just got done making beats. I should sleep.

I'm much more productive in the morning. I've got tons of booze and no work or school or anything until my flight home on the 22. Beat time!

For a heavy sub bass like that Tribe or Dilla like sound
try this:

I was experimenting the other night, and I had a sample of a kick drum, I re-pitched it and resampled it a few times, then I added some subsonic efx it...(not fully tho), then I repitched it a few times on different pads. sounds nice. I added a nice delay on it and sounds super fresh, I had it in 8ths/T!

Hahaha oh shit I guess it was sunday.

I've been so out of whack for around three weeks due to some panic-attack related shit. I'd never gotten panic attacks before and yeah, everything's changed in less than a month. I'm on a daily pill that makes mke crash out at midnight and I awake at 8 or 9 everyday. It's sort-of awesome. I just make tons of music.

just to add....

when you add a delay you can add the delay effect in the ctrl 1 dial turn to the left you get T8T(which i'm assuming means 8ths in triplets)

when i finish sumthin I like..I'll add some audio links def!

the sub bass effect isnt bad but i notice a preset sound to it. I usually eq and filter the subbass.

The sub base adds a low freq. sine wave to your sound I think. If you blend it with the original sample filtiered and soem EQ and other various effects and u can get a real different sound everytime.
