hey rio, i checked this program and it's really useful...
i wonder if you are able to make sth. that converts a sp pattern into a midifile...?
this way round would be so awesome...
i know it's easy to ask; honestly i know nothing about programming, but i thought you might be interested in the user base.

thanx again for this...

classic 404s still rising. 8)

hi wax,

ok, thx.
Besides, have you downloaded the last version? there, i have bugfixed some little errors (screenposition restoring correction, new appname and solved midiport bug).

What you mean accurate with sp pattern? And besides i'm not sure what should be converted (you mean the external patterns of my tool should be converted to a midifile?)

And can you please explain me a little bit more, why you need it as midifile?

best regards,
rio

Is this just a midi sequencer or can it transfer the patterns onto the 404 in the 404's custom pattern format?

just a midi sequencer.

me:
Quote:
Note: The editor stores/loads the pattern in an own format on disk and it has nothing to do with the internal pattern format of sp-404.

how do i switch between pattern?
i've seen this pattern button (file up/down) but nothing happens...

i also don't understand the min and max marker; what are they doing?

how can I extend a pattern or is it a 2bar sequencer only?

...I basicly always wanted a program that converts the sp pattern file (.bin) into a midifile, so i could throw it into a daw to work further with it...

velocity option in v1.2?

and again:
i don't touch the roland sp pattern format.
Quote:

..the tool only communicates via midi events, like roland has it implemented and described. Nothing more.

and so the answer is clear: no!

To convert midifile from my own playroutine sounds more logic... but i am not sure how midifiles work - maybe sometime, i don't know.

ok the other questions: hehe...yeah I see that I have reversed the pageup and down key for the current pattern view....

yes you can walk/play between 1..99 pattern positions, see at right/bottom side of the tool:
the blue LED number sets the start position: min pattern position for playback
the red LED number set the end positon: max pattern position for playback
the green LED number sets the current/viewed position of a pattern

first you have to raise max pattern position before you can raise min pattern position ;)

everything can be set up via mousewheel ;)
..is it now better explained? (oh my english sucks a lot)

velocity option in v1.2?

you can easy change speed scrolling mousewheel at BPM-field or press buttons there...

you're german, right? (yeah i clicked the :?: )

i totally understood that your stuff doesn't connect to the sp pattern files or midi files; somehow it would be cool though...

i still miss the ability to switch from one pattern to another, just like the sp does but now that i figured out what these 'markers' do I guess it's not possible... the mousewheel option is killer though...

btw. velocity has nothing to do with speed...

thx :). yes german.

the midi implemention of sp-404 is very rare. Wait i'll check out whether velocity option can be transmitted...

External controlling is rudimentary. My app only plays samples and is sending out the midiclock.

The main reason for this tool was to prepare an exact and detailed sequence e.g. for drums and then to record them with sp-404. You can define a Length between 1 and 99 :).

i hope my explanation helps ;)

best regards,
rio

New version 1.2 is now uploaded in the first post.

I have fixed the loading routine... there was a bit wired at some parts.
Now Velocity control for pads is available.

Have fun ;)

Best regards,
rio

This might be a very stupid question so sorry but how do you connect the 404 to the computer via midi? Does it use a chord with one side usb and the other midi?
thanks and sorry again

USB to midi is the most simple, but if you wanna go one step further just buy an audio interface with midi i/o on it. It's kinda like a two for one deal.
