I was wondering if the SP-404 allows you to stack samples . For instance...Can I take 4 different bass drums or snares drums and stack them on top of each other on one pad?

Id like to import my beats to the SP and record some samples over them but I cant figure out how or if its even possible. I remember overdubbing beats on the SP-303 but its a been so long that I don't remeber how the hell I was able to do it.

Thanks

You do this by resampling. Resample triggering desired samples at once and you will have a sample of those samples stacked up.

Is there anyway to sample over another pad live? For example, scratching a hook over a beat I have stored in one of the pads as it plays?

I just tried resampling but it wont allow me to use "EXIT SOURCE". It seems Resample will only allow the overdubing of pads but not sound from live sources. Im hoping there's another option!

think about it; REsample. record(ie sample) external source first then REsample that pad plus other beat. for what you want to do can only be acheived by the 555. or u could get the foot pedal rc-2 to accompany you. but NO you can not resample from ext source with internal samples. this would be nice to see in an os update though. i wish we could. peace

just an idea; if you want to get the scratch/whatever right-on(which is ideal, right) you could record said beat to a tape recorder(md 4 me) and listen to this elsewhere while recording scratch.
