maybe this question has already been asked:

how do you import samples, so that they don't fill up a whole bank?
example: I want to import: B_01_kick B_02_snare B_03_hihat
and D_01_kick, D_02_snare, D_03_hihat.
To bank B I want to import the B-samples and the other pads (4-12) on bank B I want to leave empty. But as I try this, the sampler keeps filling the empty pads with D_01_kick, D_02, D_03 and so on... why doesn't it import them to bank D and keeps filling bank B?

cheers

the only way to do that on the 404 would be to only load the B samples to the root of the card, then import them, then switch the card back to your pc, erase the already imported files, loading up the ones for another bank, importing those, and so on. alternately, you could import them all en masse then move the samples with [del]+[rec].

orrrrrr... you could make a dummy file, say a second of silence in soundforge or similar, copy it x number of times and rename the copies so they fill the spots you need skipped, then go back and remove them. i seems like that would work, but then i've never actually imported anything, i just sample through the line in, so take it for what it's worth...

seems like a lot of work, but thanks for the great ideas!!!
I thought if I name the files the right way, they just show up in the right bank... but I must have been wrong.

yeah that would be nice but it just goes sequentially from the first pad you choose until all files are imported. the change function isn't hard though and is quick, especcially for kit sounds.
