so here's what i've been doing. i craft a sample of say a violin on the mpc and chop it into 2 pieces. i up the attack/decay on both so they are smooth and then i sample them onto different pads on the sp404. i do this for as many notes as i want in my synth melody.

using midi, i can now tap pads on the mpc and have them trigger the 404. tapping the first and the 2nd pads alternately allows the sound to sustain as long as you want it.

now record in your pattern. it'll sound smooth. then, play with effects as you record it into your software/hardware tracker.

this is a good way to get nice and dynamic solos using the sp404's effects.
